I have two distinct areas of work here. For the wood pieces I go to places and remove timber in a considered way. I then create wood studies that impose a new order on that timber or that place. My aim is to reveal a progression, often the progression of time. How it responds to the elements. But above all, to reveal the unfashioned beauty of the wood; its diversity, its durability and its vunerability, whilst always respecting its origin.
For the miniature work, I remove ordinary things from their known context, reduce them. From these miniature realities we respond to the familiar in a different way.
